Summary

Countryside was appointed to deliver a package of external works at Aylesham, comprising the construction of a new pedestrian footpath to the boundary of the existing play park, alongside extensive car park upgrades aimed at improving drainage, safety, and overall functionality.

Works commenced on 1st December 2025 and were completed over a five-week programme. The project required careful coordination to maintain safe access throughout, while delivering durable, long-term infrastructure improvements for the local community.

The footpath works included the installation of timber edging, a geotextile membrane, MOT Type 1 sub-base, and a Golden Buff self-binding gravel surface, providing a robust and visually sympathetic finish.

Car park improvements focused on flood prevention and safety, including the installation of ACO drainage channels, a 4m x 4m Polystorm soakaway system, reinstatement of existing concrete surfaces, new raise-and-lower lighting columns with solar-powered lanterns, and rubber wheel stops to protect perimeter railings.

Despite cold weather conditions impacting concreting activities, the project was completed successfully through careful planning and sequencing. The finished works have significantly enhanced pedestrian access, improved drainage performance, and increased overall site safety.
